Our Life Together

This is our first photo of the two of us as a couple! It was two weeks after locking eyes and he had already met my Mom! My family had spent the day at the lake and Makenna & Skylar immediately adopted him as one of their own after he decked them out in glow-in-the-dark bracelets. Good man! I met his family shortly after and they immediately felt like Home! We both come from loving families and are building our lives together on that solid foundation they gave us.
Husker fans unite! A mere 3 months into our relationship, I went out on a limb and invited him on the tour I was hosting for the NU vs UCLA game in Sunny California! My bet paid off! If we could survive the "walk of death" back to the bus after the game with 30 tired, drunk, and disappointed fans on a main thoroughfare, we could handle anything! We love going to Husker games together and watching him perform with the UNL Alumni Marching Band is priceless!
One of the things that really bonds us is our shared love of getting up and out of the house and doing something. I love trying anything new, and he's up for anything, so it's a good combination! He's an avid golfer and I won tickets to this tourney. We ended up following Fred Couples and he was kind enough to autograph Dane's hat! EEeee!! Lol! All of our summer activities are balanced by hibernating in the winter... at least for now.
One of the things that I love about Dane is his affinity for the beach! We're both California born and bred, but our families moved back to Nebraska while we were still in grade school. The sand and surf is definitely in our blood! Annual trips to reconnect with the ocean will definitely be a part of our lives for many years to come!
I may look all calm, cool, and collected but that's only because you can't see my death grip on the lift's railing! My first baby step to getting on a ski lift at some point. He grew up skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding... I'm more of a hiker, walker, and rollerskating queen... so I'm slowly stretching my boundaries so I can get more comfortable with my feet off the ground and into the sky! We both agree that skydiving is out of the question, though.
Music is the soul of our lives! I come from a family of singers, he comes from a family of musicians! I was in concert choir in high school, love karaoke, and The Rock Boat... he won the Louis Armstrong Award for trombone, was in the UNL Marching Band, and was the lead singer in a punk rock band! Some of our favorite shows so far have been Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, Pat Benatar, Motley Crue, and of course, our local friends, The Killigans!
