We were at the end of our week-long vacation in Florida, when we decided to go into Saint Augustine to see the sights. I wanted to visit the Bridge of Lions to see the Spanish Galleons and the sun was getting ready to set over the city.

The weather was beautiful for January, especially since we left sub-zero temps back in the Midwest. We headed to the top of the Bridge of Lions to get a few photos of the ships in the harbor. Our destination was the first turret on the right!

The El Galeon is on the left, all lit up... and the Nao Victoria in the shadows to the right. The Nao Victoria is a replica of the ship that Magellan first sailed to circumnavigate the world in 1522!

We were just about to head back down the bridge when he realized that the moment was finally right! Inspired by the view and the gorgeous sunset, he held my hand and drew me toward him. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring box that he had been secretly carrying with him for over a week! Dane asked me to be his wife right there in this very spot. I said Yes!!

We could see this restaurant from atop our perch on the bridge, so we decided to spend some quality time there... basking in the glow... =)

The waitress had no idea why she was taking this photo. We didn't tell anyone until we got back to the hotel and let Dane's brother Robb and his wife Serena in on our little secret. The following morning, we called home to tell our parents and let our friends know! It was the perfect end to the perfect surprise engagement trip!
