How We Met

It all began under this humble awning at the old horse track at State Fair Park! It was the third weekend of live horse racing... Friday, June 1st, 2012. Lincoln, Nebraska...

 

Kathy was working down at the Paddock Bar... she had missed opening weekend because she was traipsing around Germany for her "real job" and the second weekend was pretty awful. It was so cold and windy and rainy that  they had to cut off the flapping red awning overhead! It was now safely stowed under her bar and she was hopeful that the weather would clear so that cute biker/surfer guy that didn't notice her last year would come back again this season!

 

Dane was just happy to be there! He came for opening weekend and had skipped the rainy second weekend, so he was looking forward to getting some sun and fresh air while he watched the ponies. He headed down the grandstand steps, turned the corner, and was just heading down the steps to the Paddock area to check out the horses, when out of the blue... 

 

BAM!!  He hit her with his laser beam eyes!! 

 

And so began our great love story!
